WOMEN IN THE NAACP (WIN)
“Outstretched Hands and Open Hearts to Women and Children”

WOMEN IN THE NAACP (WIN) is an official committee of the National Association for The Advancement of Colored People. Its purposes are to:

  • Enhance the leadership role of women around social, economic, political and health issues;
  • Serve as an advocacy vehicle for issues which affect women and children;
  • Advocate for the positive development of children;
  • Promote and support the on-going work aimed at enhancing membership of the Association and its units; and
  • Assist in providing financial support to various programs of NAACP Branches

    Working through local NAACP Branches, WIN Units enhance the strength of Branches by carrying out a programmatic thrust, which encompasses civic, cultural, social and fund-raising activities, focusing on the concerns of the community that affect African Americans and other minorities, whether male or female. These concerns may be issues of relationships, teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and other health care concerns, drug abuse, single households, senior citizens, crime and violence, and building self-esteem. WIN also sponsors workshops and other activities to address these issues.

    WIN AND THE NAACP ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE Each Region has a coordinator designated as a Regional (Vice) Coordinator. All State Conferences designate a WIN State Chairperson and all local branches are strongly encouraged to establish a WIN Chapter.

    MEMBERSHIP - WIN membership is open to any person who is a bona fide member of the NAACP. Members may be men and women of all races, creeds and national origins and join by payment of the WIN annual membership fee of $10.00.
